My husband Tom and I live in Savannah, Georgia. We spent half of June and half of July at our cabin "The Cabin in Gloryland" on Upper Red Lake, an hour north of Bemidji with 6 grandkids and a dog. We (just the 2 of us), will be going back to the lake in September for 10 days, and just can't make a trip up in August too.
Tom and I met at the U of M in the Band, he: tuba, me: percussion. He still plays the tuba in church and a dixieland jazz band here in Savannah. we both sing in the church choir and the Savannah Philharmonic chorus. I am the children's choir director at our church, something I have done for many years and in previous churches also.
We have 4 surviving children, our first son had Muscular Dystrophy and passed away in 1995. We have 8 grandchildren, 2 of whom live with us.
Life is good! I'm retired and Tom has started saying the R word occasionally. We hope when he does retire that we can spend more time at the lake. It is hot and HUMID here in Savannah in the summer. The last 2 years we have come to Minnesota in September just as the island we live on was evacuating in advance of a hurricane, and we returned home just as they were letting people back onto the island. We were blessed with NO damage to our home, only power that had been out for 6 days and so we had a totally thawed freezer and fridge to greet us!
